Luis Petri Aims for Governorship of Mendoza

Omar De Marchi, along with some factions of provincial Peronism, is not entirely convinced. History must take its course. The nephew of Luis Petri, Ulpiano Suárez, who is the mayor of Mendoza City, continues to manage his own policies and budget, maintaining autonomy from the "central power." Despite the criticisms, Petri continues to closely monitor the work of the Mendocinos por el Futuro Foundation, led by his sister Griselda. He has the support of about one hundred experts on what would be the government plan for future elections in Mendoza.

In the 2021 Primary Elections, Petri managed to position himself in second place, challenging the official apparatus. Despite not having a traditional political apparatus, he does have votes. He acknowledges the changes in society that have affected citizens' voting behavior. His performance has caused some stir in the local political arena, being recognized for his work.

Petri's close associates point out his reluctance to discuss candidacies and elections. Instead, he prefers to focus on his work as Minister of Defense, trying to leave a positive mark in his management. Although he maintains a position in the national Government aligned with President Milei, he seeks to stand out through his actions rather than his media exposure.

His interest in improving the Voluntary Military Service aims to make it more attractive to young people, incorporating more instruction and specific training. The project seeks to increase the number of volunteers by offering a more appealing approach, especially for young people who are neither studying nor working. This initiative aims to improve the conditions for those participating in the national defense system.

Despite his good image and popularity according to polls, Petri is cautious about future elections. He maintains ties with the Unión Cívica Radical and is not afraid to work with "libertarians." His strategic focus and dedication to specific issues have been recognized in his political career. Although he is mentioned as a possible successor to Cornejo in the Mendoza governorship, Petri avoids openly discussing candidacies and focuses on his role as minister and on concrete projects that aim to positively impact society.
