Death of Felipe Staiti, Los Enanitos Verdes Guitarist

Felipe Staiti, founder and guitarist of the Argentine rock band Los Enanitos Verdes, passed away at the age of 64 on Monday, March 13, after his health deteriorated due to complications. This was announced by Diego Gareca, Secretary of Culture for the province of Mendoza, Argentina. Staiti suffered from various illnesses that led to a decline in his physical condition. He had an autoimmune disease that affected his digestive system, mainly the intestine, but the cause of his death has not yet been revealed. In 2024, he embarked on a tour across several Latin American countries to mark the 40th anniversary of the band's first album release. He also suffered from celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that damages the small intestine due to a reaction to gluten, causing nutrient absorption deficiencies. This led him to cancel performances in Chile, Colombia, and Peru. His guitar style, characterized by clean melodies and great sensitivity, shaped the group's sonic identity over several decades. He participated in creating hits that transcended generations, such as 'Luz de Día', 'La muralla verde', and 'Te vi en un tren', which became classics of Latin rock. The culture of Mendoza loses one of its brightest and irreplaceable guitarists. We will remember your music, farewell, Felipe.
