Authorities in Argentina Seize and Destroy Fake 'Milanesas' Made of Cardboard

In the town of Loreto, Santiago del Estero, health authorities destroyed dozens of "milanesas" (breaded cutlets) that contained toilet paper and cardboard instead of meat. This occurred during the fair in honor of the city's patron saint. It was also reported that the business owner will be prohibited from operating any enterprises in the future. The Loreto Municipality reported that in recent hours, the Bromatology Department conducted inspections at the "Fuerza Aérea Argentina" Park during the fair. One of the stalls was found to be selling "nine packs of prepared milanesas with an appalling irregularity in their composition". According to a statement accessed by the Argentine News Agency, these milanesas, from the "Trico" food truck owned by a resident of the San Cayetano neighborhood in San Miguel de Tucumán, "were being made using toilet paper and cardboard instead of meat, which constitutes a serious public health risk". An infringement report was immediately filed, and the case was handed over to Municipal Judge Nelson Coronel, who ordered various actions to safeguard public health. These included the permanent eviction of the food truck from the fair, the seizure of the so-called food, and the destruction of the confiscated goods to eliminate any possible risk. Regarding the accused, it was reported that after the owner's details were registered in the Revenue Office, an administrative sanction was issued, which disqualifies him from entering the fair and prohibits him from setting up a business in the city of Loreto for the coming years.
