The Municipality of Hurlingham has launched a security ring with license plate reader cameras at the district's main access points, with the aim of registering and monitoring vehicle entry and exit.
Mayor Damián Selci stated that the daily traffic volume would reach 200,000 vehicles counted at the access points. In parallel, the municipality and local media indicated that the measure is integrated with the existing network of neighborhood video surveillance and with vehicle control operations planned for the summer, as part of a security strategy that combines monitoring, patrol, and situational prevention.
Additionally, the district has promoted advances in the 'Secure Stops' program and totems connected to the monitoring system, featuring alert buttons and a direct link to the COM (Operations and Monitoring Center), as part of the same package of urban security measures.
According to the official communication, the scheme seeks to improve the response capacity to crimes linked to motor vehicles and to reinforce preventive control on key corridors. According to the Argentine News Agency, the system relies on automatic license plate reading technology and centralizes information in the Operations and Monitoring Center (COM).
