Motorcyclist dies after altercation with truck driver in Azul

A motorcyclist died on Saturday morning in the city of Azul, Buenos Aires Province, after being run over and crashed into a tree by the driver of a truck trailer, with whom he had had an altercation that lasted several blocks in the town center. The victim was identified as Diego Maximiliano Marianache, 46, while his aggressor is Miguel José Mele, 58, who now faces a charge of negligent homicide. The incident occurred on Avenida España. According to witnesses, during the argument, the motorcyclist allegedly punched one of the mirrors or part of the truck's bodywork. Security camera footage shows how Miguel José Mele, 58, the driver of the Iveco truck, began to corner Diego Maximiliano Marianache, 46, who was riding a Motomel 150 cc. In a matter of meters, the maneuver to corner the motorcyclist became so vicious that it turned into a ramming and then a fatal outcome: Marianache, trapped with no room to maneuver, ended up crashing head-on at considerable speed into a tree. The Iveco truck braked onto the sidewalk, and Mele put it in reverse. He then drove a few more meters to park his truck. The video also shows a woman, a witness, approaching the victim's body and motorcycle, talking on the phone and gesturing. Officers from the Buenos Aires Provincial Police arrived at the scene and detained Mele. Vehicle experts from the Buenos Aires Police found that the Iveco truck had no mechanical defects.
