The technical director of Racing Club, Gustavo Costas, expressed his frustration over the 2-1 defeat against Banfield in matchday 19 of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol. Costas highlighted the lack of intensity from his team during the match and emphasized the importance of maintaining that level of play to achieve positive results.
"It's fine that today there were other players but still, we all work the same way. Because of everything that is happening, because of the passion that there will be... But it frustrates me because we cannot have a match like this. If we cannot play with intensity, we are a team that can be beaten by anyone," lamented Costas.
The 61-year-old coach stressed that intensity should never be negotiable, especially in Argentine football where competition is intense. "I dreamed of being in the semifinals and I dream of being in the final. We work the same, the same. Today in Argentine football if you don't run, if you're not intense, it's very difficult, anyone can complicate you," he emphasized.
Costas also referred to Racing Club's next challenge, the second leg semifinal of the Copa Sudamericana against Brazil's Corinthians, expressing his confidence that the team will show a different performance. "The match itself was bad. We failed in intensity. No one remembers the seconds, no matter how much history you make. If you reach the final, you have to win it. We can't play like this," Costas stated.
In the midst of the disappointment from the defeat against Banfield, Gustavo Costas urged his team to reflect on their mistakes and improve their performance for future challenges, reaffirming that intensity is a key aspect to achieving success in competitive football.
