Next Sunday, the classic match between Independiente and Racing will take place for the tenth round of the 2025 Torneo Apertura of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol. In this new edition of the Avellaneda derby, Independiente will host Racing at the Estadio Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini. The match will be officiated by referee Nicolás Ramírez and broadcasted by ESPN Premium and TNT Sports starting at 16:00.
Independiente, under the direction of Julio Vaccari, arrives at this match in good form after defeating San Lorenzo and is currently in first position in Zone B with 20 points. Ahead of the derby, Vaccari plans to make two changes to the starting lineup compared to the previous match. Midfielder Iván Marcone would take the place of Rodrigo Fernández Cedrés, while Santiago Montiel would return to the team after recovering from an injury in place of Diego Tarzia.
Racing, managed by Gustavo Costas, will see the return of Santiago Sosa and Marco Di César, who have overcome their injuries and will be available to strengthen the team's defense. The big question in Racing's formation is the presence of Adrián “Maravilla” Martínez, who needs a miraculous recovery to be a starter in this match.
In the last four matches of the Torneo Apertura, Racing has suffered defeats and will seek to add three points to get closer to the playoff qualification zone. In the last derby between Independiente and Racing, which took place in the second half of last year, both teams drew in a match where Independiente played with one less man for much of the game.
The probable lineups for this match would be as follows: Independiente: Rodrigo Rey; Federico Vera, Kevin Lomónaco, Sebastián Valdez, Álvaro Angulo; Felipe Loyola, Iván Marcone, Lautaro Millán; Santiago Hidalgo, Gabriel Ávalos, and Santiago Montiel. Racing: Gabriel Arias; Nazareno Colombo, Santiago Sosa, Marco Di César; Gabriel Rojas, Juan Nardoni, Agustín Almendra, Gastón Martirena; Santiago Solari, Adrián “Maravilla” Martínez or Adrián “Rocky” Balboa, and Maximiliano Salas.
