Coach Jorge Almirón, currently with Colo-Colo in Chile, spoke about his time at Boca and revealed that he contacted forward Carlos Palacios, who assured him that he is very happy playing for the 'Xeneize.' Almirón was in charge of the La Ribera team from April 10 to November 5, managing 43 matches with a 49.6% effectiveness, totaling 17 wins, 13 draws, and 13 losses.
Almirón discussed his experience at Boca and expressed satisfaction for having managed the team. Regarding his time at the Argentine club, Almirón commented: 'I really enjoyed coaching Boca, competing at a high level; I was there for a short time and I believe I could have continued growing afterwards. I am very happy at Colo Colo as well; I am enjoying day by day; time will tell. I am always grateful for the opportunity I had to be there, I would not doubt it.'
Regarding Palacios' debut at Boca, Almirón praised the player, highlighting his personality and physical improvement. Referring to Palacios, Almirón emphasized: 'He has a lot of personality; it doesn't weigh on him to enter and play anywhere. He is a neighborhood kid who plays just as he is. He is a very good player, quite complete, and physically he has improved a lot, which was what he needed to gain confidence in his game.'
Almirón also shared his reflections on the challenges faced by the Chilean team in the Copa Libertadores, mentioning that the competition has strengthened with the arrival of reinforcements in several teams. He highlighted the importance of teamwork and attention to detail to compete at the highest level. 'Our work is different; we must pay attention to all the details, that's why we could compete; we had a good series with River, it was very close,' commented the coach.
Regarding Boca's current squad for the Apertura Tournament, Almirón praised the quality of the players and mentioned the importance of complicity among team members. He highlighted that the key is for good players to connect and understand each other on the field: 'Boca has very good players; good players come together with those who play well and start to understand each other. They are players who need to find that complicity with good players.'
Boca will face Racing at the Cilindro de Avellaneda this Saturday in a match that promises excitement, and Almirón hopes that the team will establish itself as a strong and competitive squad in all competitions in which it participates.
