Racing defender Santiago Sosa, one of the pillars of the team led by Gustavo Costas, will undergo tests due to pain in his right knee that raised alarms in the coaching staff of the 'Academy'. During the match against Estudiantes, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the La Plata team, Sosa had to be replaced at halftime due to complications in stepping after a blow.
Sosa finished the first half with severe pain in the injury area, raising concerns of a sprain. In the coming hours, various tests will be carried out to determine the severity of the injury. This injury adds to the physical problems Racing has faced at the start of the championship, with the absence of defender Agustín García Basso and midfielder Juan Nardoni due to different traumas.
Against Estudiantes, Santiago Quirós and Martín Barrios replaced the injured players; however, the absence of Sosa and the others affected was notably felt, and Racing struggled during the match. In a press conference after the defeat, coach Gustavo Costas commented that the availability of García Basso and Nardoni is doubtful for the classic match against Boca, putting them to the test on Wednesday.
Racing's next match will be against Boca on Saturday in the fourth round of the Apertura Tournament of the Liga Profesional. After a great start to the tournament with victories over Barracas Central and Belgrano from Córdoba, the team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Estudiantes in their latest outing in La Plata.
