The president of Racing, Víctor Blanco, has been summoned to testify by the Justice of the Province of Buenos Aires regarding the transfer of Lautaro 'Toro' Martínez to Inter Milan in 2018. According to the case, called 'fraud in the substance, quality, or quantity of things', possible irregularities in the transfer of the Argentine forward are being investigated, whose transfer to the Italian club reached 25 million euros.
The official numbers of the operation, presented by Racing in its balance sheet of October 2018, indicated a net income of 21 million euros, of which Liniers, Martínez's training club, received 20 percent. This economic movement is considered one of the most significant for the club in financial terms, given the value and relevance of Martínez in Racing's youth system.
The judicial summons arrives at a time of great tension in Racing, where the electoral atmosphere is intensifying ahead of the elections on December 15. This situation could impact Blanco's image amid a campaign marked by internal conflicts. Víctor Blanco, who has been at the helm of the institution for several years, will seek re-election facing Diego Milito, a former player and idol of the club, who leads the main opposition.
The Instruction Prosecutor's Office Number 4 of Avellaneda, in charge of the case, has requested Blanco to provide all additional documentation, including the contracts with Martínez's representatives, former footballers Rolando 'Roly' Zárate and Carlos Yaque, who are also involved in the investigation. In case of non-compliance, the president of Racing could face charges of disobedience to authority.
The judicial case raises questions about the transparency of the operation in question, questioning whether all administrative and financial procedures related to the sale were carried out in accordance with the law. This doubt could influence the perception of Racing's members ahead of the elections and the reputation of Blanco as a re-election candidate.
