Argentinian Police Arrest Suspect in Molotov Cocktail Attacks

Argentinian police have arrested Milton Tolomeo, who is considered one of the suspects in the manufacturing and throwing of Molotov cocktails at security forces during a violent protest. The arrest took place in the city of Avellaneda following an exhaustive analysis of images from public and private security cameras and press records. Tolomeo is accused of aggravated arson and resisting authority. During a raid on his home, agents seized fuel canisters, thermal gloves, electronic devices, and clothing that would coincide with those used on the day of the protest. The Minister of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, stated that the objective of those involved was 'to sow chaos and destabilize the institutional order.' She described the detainee as 'a terrorist who is now in prison and will be isolated in a high-risk facility.' The government reaffirmed that it will not tolerate violent actions that, under the guise of a protest, result in facts that put the integrity of people and public assets at risk. Authorities also indicated that they continue to investigate the possible prior planning of the attacks and the eventual existence of an organized logistics behind the riots. Tolomeo remains in federal custody and will be questioned in the coming hours on charges of aggravated arson and resisting authority. Justice will also evaluate the possible charge of criminal association if it is proven that he acted in coordination with other individuals. The arrest represents a new advance in a case that seeks to determine individual criminal responsibilities and eventual connections among the different parties involved. According to the official report, Tolomeo was not among the 17 initially reported by the Ministry of Security, which reinforces the hypothesis that the investigation continues to expand based on the cross-referencing of digital evidence and testimonies.
