After corruption allegations against local councilor Arnaldo 'Peppo' Díaz, political reshuffles intensify in Avellaneda. Key figures collaborate amid rising concerns over ties to football violence as elections approach.

Political Turmoil in Avellaneda Ahead of Elections

After the corruption allegations against local councilman Arnaldo "Peppo" Díaz, César Frattini was promoted as the coordinator of the party's political table. Frattini leads a group of fans, some of whom are classified as barras bravas. Among them is Fabricio Martínez, who used to lead the fan group of Deportivo Laferrere.

In 2022, Martínez miraculously survived an assassination attempt by two hitmen on a motorcycle, but those who masterminded the attack were never identified. Currently, Martínez works alongside Sebastián Pareja, participating in official events with Milei at Casa Rosada and politically coordinating the sections covering from Avellaneda to Florencio Varela in the Conurbano region.

Pareja, appointed by Karina Milei, was responsible for electoral organization in the province of Buenos Aires but decided to distance himself from former members of barras bravas of Argentine football for the upcoming provincial election. This decision was made after an analysis of individuals with criminal records related to violence in football.

The presence of controversial figures like Fabricio Martínez and Cristian Frattini has raised concerns in some political sectors. Martínez, known for his past in the barra brava of Deportivo Laferrere, and Frattini, with influences in Avellaneda, have been involved in the appointment of important positions in the region.

Regarding irregularities in appointments, the dismissal of Martín Irrazabal from his position at the local ANSES was mentioned, allegedly influenced by Pareja. Irrazabal had reported deficiencies in the management of Julián Jaime Laham, also linked to Pareja.

Amid this web, the presence of figures with criminal records, such as Alejandro "Terremoto" Caiño, convicted for drug possession, has been noted. These events have generated concern among some politicians and officials seeking to avoid dangerous associations in view of future electoral processes.
