The Directing Commission of Independiente is looking to remodel its stadium Libertadores de América, Ricardo Enrique Bochini, with the need to change its location. To carry out this project, the company BMA, the same one that worked on the renovation of the Monumental stadium, will present guarantees soon. If all conditions are met, an Assembly will be called to discuss the matter and for it to be approved by the members.
"What we seek with this is to expand the capacity so that 16 thousand more people can enter," commented a member of the board. To achieve this, it is planned to build three new stands in the Erico grandstand and in the Pavoni and Santoro stands. Additionally, 200 new boxes would be added in the Bochini stand and VIP terraces would be built. It also includes the construction of a museum, a restaurant, and a parking lot with 800 spaces. To carry out these improvements, it will be necessary to acquire the housing adjacent to the stadium.
Furthermore, the possibility of covering the four ends is being considered, a long-held wish of the club's supporters. The slogan of the project would be "a new stadium at zero cost to the club," as the financing of more than 36 million dollars would come from Azura Partners. Although exact timelines have not been defined, it is believed that the company financing the works will obtain the concession to operate the new spaces.
The Assembly is expected to be held in the coming weeks to move forward with the necessary trust and execute the project, which includes new seats, a parking lot, brand new boxes, a museum, and a restaurant. Initially, total usufruct would be granted for 10 years, followed by a concession for five years with 50% of the revenue or it could be extended for a decade with 30%. The work is expected to last at least 18 months in scheduled phases.
