
The former goalkeeper and idol of River, Marcelo Barovero, will have his farewell match in his hometown of Porteña, Córdoba. After finishing his professional career, Barovero dedicated himself to giving motivational talks to various groups and now he is preparing for this emotional encounter.
The event will take place at the Don Décimo Mezzano stadium of Porteña Cultural and Sports Association, the club where Barovero took his first steps. The match is scheduled for Saturday, December 21, and will feature prominent players such as Leonardo Ponzio, Jonathan Maidana, Leonardo Pisculichi, Leonel Vangioni, and Fernando Cavenaghi, who were Barovero's teammates during River's successful era under Marcelo Gallardo.
The match will be played in two halves of 35 minutes each and will pit the 1984 category of Porteña against a team made up of Barovero's former teammates. Tickets are already on sale, with prices ranging from 25,000 to 35,000 pesos. Barovero expressed: 'I started to walk another path because I learned that life is like a match: no matter how much you can imagine it in a thousand different ways, it will always bring you a new story. I try to share my experiences and I like that.'
