Marcelo Gallardo, head coach of River Plate, had an incident with a journalist during the post-match press conference after the game against Atlético Mineiro in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals.

The exchange occurred when Gallardo noticed that a reporter had his head down while he was answering a question. In response, the coach remarked: "there's a gentleman who is falling asleep."

After the 0-0 draw that resulted in River's elimination from the competition, Gallardo approached the journalist in question to apologize. He expressed: "I didn't know if you were listening to me, because when you lowered your head and stayed like that for a while."

The journalist explained that his team was asking him if the conference would take place there or if they would handle it themselves. Subsequently, Gallardo apologized for the misunderstanding, although he expressed his discomfort with the situation.

"I don't know you and it was nothing against you. I apologize. Sometimes I think I'm talking and if someone isn't listening to me I try to... otherwise, I have to get up and leave," concluded the head coach of River Plate.
