Milei Criticizes Boca's Coach Gago

President Javier Milei criticized the new Boca Juniors head coach, Fernando Gago, during his speech at the 47th anniversary of the Mediterranean Foundation. Milei recalled his time at Boca, especially the 2003 Intercontinental Cup final, and mentioned that he stopped being a fan when Juan Román Riquelme returned and a player like Fernando Gago appeared, whom he compared to having less presence than La Salada.

Milei expressed his discontent with the current management of Boca's president and head coach, as the team is having a complicated year on the field and its qualification for the 2025 Copa Libertadores is in jeopardy. Regarding Gago, he stated that if things continue this way, he might return to the field at some point.

Milei's criticisms are based on Gago's unimpressive start as head coach, as he has yet to secure three points in the Professional Football League. Boca suffered defeats against Tigre and Deportivo Riestra, and only managed to advance to the semifinals of the Argentine Cup by defeating Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in the penalty shootout.

Boca's president has a different stance from Riquelme, even stating that he voted in the last elections out of loyalty to Mauricio Macri and in gratitude to Martín Palermo, who would have been the head coach if that formula had won.
