Franco Colapinto Joins Red Bull Racing Rumors

Rumors surrounding the future of Sergio Checo Pérez continue, and on October 29 it emerged that the Red Bull team would be pursuing Argentinian Franco Colapinto, despite him having only five races in Formula 1. According to information from Dutch journalist Jack Plooij and former driver Robert Doornbos, the Red Bulls have made an offer to the Williams team.

"The Williams cash register will soon be full. If there is a great young talent in the market right now, it’s Colapinto," Plooij pointed out during the Race Café program on Ziggo Sport. In the same vein, he noted that commercially Franco is an interesting option, as he could be the face of Claro, a phone brand in South America. "But Red Bull is known for giving opportunities to young talents," he added.

Plooij also mentioned that there was a conversation with James Vowles, in which a bid of 20 million for Colapinto was established. For his part, Doornbos commented that he was aware that the Argentine does not have a fixed seat as a starter in Formula 1, despite his recent results.

Franco Colapinto replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams from the Italian Grand Prix, where he finished in twelfth place. On the other hand, Mexican driver Checo Pérez has had a strong start to the season with four podiums in five races, but his performance has declined since the Chinese Grand Prix, failing to get on the podium again.

Amidst speculation, it is mentioned that Helmut Marko from Red Bull is willing to invest large sums of money in the team.
