Argentine driver Franco Colapinto expressed his frustration with the performance of his Williams in the first qualifying round (Q1) of the Mexican Grand Prix. Colapinto was self-critical, rating the performance as "a disaster."
"The car was very bad today," lamented Colapinto about the performance of his Williams. During qualifying, the Argentine driver could only complete one lap at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and failed to make a second lap, finishing in sixteenth position and being eliminated from Qualy 2 (Q2).
Colapinto recorded a time of 1:17.558, just 151 thousandths off the cutoff. This is the second consecutive time that the Argentine has failed to advance from the first qualifying round in his participation with the Williams team.
In statements in the mixed zone, Colapinto described the situation: "In a Formula 1, it is very slow when that happens, I had a lot of oversteer and it was impossible to control it. It was really a disaster. I couldn't turn the steering wheel in qualifying and already lost the rear."
The Argentine driver expressed his dissatisfaction with the balance of the day, highlighting the difficulties encountered with the car's handling during qualifying.
