Argentine Franco Colapinto commented that the Frenchman Esteban Ocon decided to switch to soft tires at the end of the race to take away the fastest lap from him, and emphasized that he was wasting rubber. Ocon modified his tires at that strategic moment with the intention of preventing Colapinto from achieving the fastest lap, which would have granted him an extra point in the standings and taken away his position in the Drivers' Cup.
"More than positive day, but I would have had the fastest lap if this Frenchman, Ocon, hadn't taken it away from me, but well, it’s a shame, he’s wasting rubber for nothing. He should give it back to me," said Colapinto with laughter in the mixed zone during a press interview. He then added: "Why does he come into the pits?"
