After the United States Grand Prix, Argentine driver Franco Colapinto managed to overtake two-time world champion Fernando Alonso on lap 23, placing himself in the tenth position of the race. Having been behind the Spanish driver for several laps, Colapinto was finally able to surpass him in the first corner, attacking from the inside and gaining the position.
"We were very close to Fernando and, at the end of the straight before corner 1, I went in front of him and was able to take the inside line," commented Colapinto about the maneuver in which he managed to pass Alonso.
If he maintains this tenth position until the end of the race, the Argentine driver would gain an important point for the Drivers' Championship.
