Argentine driver Franco Colapinto (Alpine) delivered a great performance to finish in ninth place and thus score his first points in over a year. After a strong race, in which he had an excellent start and even reached second place, the Argentine was able to make a good comeback in the final laps to finish in the points. The last time the Argentine had scored points was at the United States Grand Prix 2024, held on October 20 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. On that occasion, Colapinto started 15th, but a correct tire strategy and a near-perfect performance allowed him to gain five positions to score an important point. The other race in which the Argentine scored points was at the Azerbaijan GP 2024, which was only his second race in Formula 1. That day, the Argentine shone on the street circuit in Baku to finish eighth and thus score four notable points. That Azerbaijan Grand Prix was historic for national motorsport, as Colapinto ended the 42-year drought for Argentines without scoring points. The previous one had been Carlos Reutemann, who finished second at the South Africa GP 1982.
