Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev (world No. 3) claimed the ATP 500 title in Dubai after his final opponent, Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, retired due to injury. According to the Argentine News Agency, Griekspoor suffered an injury during his semifinal match against Russian Andrey Rublev (world No. 5), whom he defeated 7-5, 7-6(6) after one hour and 45 minutes of play. Consequently, Medvedev did not have to take the court on Saturday to secure his 23rd career title, which also brings him close to re-entering the ATP top 10. On his way to the final, the Muscovite defeated Chinese player Shang Juncheng (6-1, 6-3), Swiss Stan Wawrinka (6-2, 6-3), American Jenson Brooksby (6-2, 6-1), and top seed Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime (6-4, 6-2). This was Medvedev's second title of the season, following his victory at the ATP 250 in Brisbane, where he defeated American Brandon Nakashima in the final. His previous title was in 2023.
