Buenos Aires, February 5 (NA) – Argentine tennis player Facundo Díaz Acosta, ranked 301st in the world, received a wildcard and entered the main draw of the Argentina Open 2026 following the recent withdrawal of Frenchman Gaël Monfils.

As learned by the Argentine News Agency, the champion of the country's most important tournament in 2024 was granted this invitation due to the absence of the French player, who will ultimately not compete in the ATP Buenos Aires due to a stomach virus.

Díaz Acosta claimed the title at the home tournament by defeating Nicolás Jarry 6-3, 6-4. This victory propelled him into the ATP top 50, though various physical issues forced him off the courts, causing him to drop in the rankings.

Currently, the Buenos Aires native is competing in Challenger circuit events. His last ATP Tour appearance was in 2025 in Santiago, where he lost to Yannick Hanfmann.

In 2026, the 25-year-old played in the Nouméa tournament, reaching the round of 16, and in Concepción, where he was eliminated in the first round. He is currently playing in the Rosario Challenger to prepare for the Argentina Open.
