Argentinian tennis player, world number 62 Tomás Martín Etcheverry, won his first-round match at the 2026 Australian Open. In his tournament opener, he defeated Serbian player Miomir Kecmanovic. Etcheverry was down two sets to one but managed to turn the match around, ultimately winning with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The match lasted three hours and 57 minutes. In the next round, Etcheverry will face British player Arthur Fery. Also on the first day of the tournament, Argentinian player Francisco Comesaña, ranked 68th in the world, defeated American Patrick Kypson. Comesaña, from Mar del Plata, won with a score of 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. In contrast, Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli lost to Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics with a score of 6-7 (5), 1-6, 2-6. On Monday, three more Argentinian tennis players will take to the court: Mariano Navone, Juan Manuel Cerundolo, and Thiago Tirante.
