Buenos Aires, January 15 (NA) -- Gendarmerie seized a loaded firearm and narcotics during a check on a microbus with San Lorenzo fans traveling to Uruguay to support their club in a friendly match. According to the Argentine News Agency, the incident occurred on January 14 at kilometer 38 of National Route 136 in the city of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos province, before the match between 'El Cuervo' and Deportivo Cúcuta of Colombia. Both the firearm and the narcotics, cocaine and marijuana, were seized immediately. During the Río de la Plata friendly series, which brings South American teams together on Uruguayan soil as preparation for the start of the 2026 season, a firearm and drugs were found in a microbus with 'Ciclón' supporters. The operation was carried out by personnel from Gendarmerie Squadron 56 'Gualeguaychú', who decided to stop the mentioned bus for an inspection at kilometer 38 of Route 136, on the Puerto Unzué section. The final details of what was seized by the security force report the confiscation of a 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol, loaded with 15 bullets, as well as doses of cocaine and marijuana. The officers first found drug wrappers in the bathroom, so it was decided to deepen the search in the internal compartments of the bus. This is how a gendarme noticed that one of the air conditioning compartment screws was less tightened than the rest, so he decided to investigate it. After disassembling the panel, the officers were able to see the hidden weapon, with its magazine already in place. With immediate intervention, the Federal Court of the aforementioned Entre Ríos locality ordered the seizure of the pistol and both substances for violating laws 23.737 and 20.429 on the illegal possession of drugs, weapons, and explosives.
