The Argentine Football League (AFA) has confirmed the official schedule for the first matchday of the 2026 Apertura Tournament. The championship will begin on Thursday, January 22, and will extend until Sunday, 25, with matches spread over four days and under the criterion of summer time, which sets a minimum start time of 5:00 PM. The calendar design took into account multiple factors: rest periods of at least 72 hours between matches, security requests in CABA and the AMBA, television demands, and especially the participation of Argentine clubs in international competitions. In this context, the organization avoided overlaps with the Copa Libertadores playoff and the South American Recopa, in addition to coordinating dates with the Copa Argentina. With this schedule, Argentine football kicks off the 2026 season, marking the start of an Apertura that promises an intense pace from the very beginning.
