Julio Furch Returns to His Childhood Club

On December 26th, 2025, a statement was released in Buenos Aires announcing that veteran Argentine forward Julio César Furch, who has scored over 150 goals throughout his career, would return to his childhood club Deportivo Winifreda before retiring.

The decision was made at the end of 2024, but the news is especially significant for the La Pampa province, where the club competes in the Primera División of the Liga Cultural de Fútbol de La Pampa.

Furch has played in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, concluding his career with clubs such as Banfield, Atlético San Luis, Santos Laguna, and others, and now wants to finish his career at the team that first shaped him.

At 36, he was training at the Dr. Miguel Eloy Baldovino stadium where his return was already being planned. He appeared in seven matches last season without scoring.

Club officials welcomed him enthusiastically, seeing his return as a foundation for revitalising the project.

"Give the club everything I received when I was a child," he said.
