The Argentine football calendar for 2026

Argentine football is getting ready for a 2026 that is just around the corner and will be full of competitions, after the Argentine Football Association (AFA) decided that a total of eight tournaments will be held in the local sphere. The first to get underway will be the Apertura Tournament, whose first match will be held on the last weekend of January. This edition will maintain the same format as in 2025, where 16 dates will be held, followed by playoffs between the top eight from each zone to define the Argentine football champion. At the same time, the League Championship will begin, which will be the annual table and will reward the team that accumulates the most points throughout the regular phases of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments. In the first half of the year, the Copa Argentina will also be launched, which will extend throughout the entire year 2026. In the second half of the year, the Clausura Tournament will be held, which will begin after the end of the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Finally, the last final with a practically defined date is that of the Champions Trophy, which will most likely take place a week after the Clausura 2026 champion is known, just as happened this year. The other three competitions to be held in 2026 will be the International Super Cup, the Argentine Super Cup, and the Champions' Recopa. All competitions of Argentine football in 2026 will have live coverage from the Argentine News Agency.
