CONMEBOL Officially Confirms Pots for 2026 Copa Libertadores Draw

The 2026 Copa Libertadores is taking its final shape, and CONMEBOL has officially announced the pots for the group stage draw, with 46 of the 47 participating teams already confirmed. In this scenario, Boca Juniors stands as the only Argentine club to be a seeded team, placed in Pot 1 of the premier continental competition. According to the Argentine News Agency, representatives of the Argentine Football Association will be distributed across all pots. Estudiantes de La Plata and Lanús will share Pot 2, while Rosario Central will be part of Pot 3. Meanwhile, Independiente Rivadavia and Platense will occupy spots in Pot 4, reserved for teams with the lowest coefficient and those coming from preliminary phases. At the top of the draw, Boca will share Pot 1 with powerhouses like Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Fluminense from Brazil, as well as Peñarol and Nacional from Uruguay, Liga de Quito, and Independiente del Valle from Ecuador. This privileged position will allow the 'Xeneize' to face the main contenders in the initial phase of the tournament. Pot 2, where Estudiantes and Lanús will be, will also include heavyweights like Corinthians, Cruzeiro, and Cerro Porteño, anticipating challenging groups. Pot 3, in turn, will feature Rosario Central alongside clubs such as Junior from Colombia, Universidad Católica from Chile, and Independiente Santa Fe, while Pot 4 will include Platense, Independiente Rivadavia, and four teams emerging from the previous phases. On this path appears Argentinos Juniors, which will begin its participation in Phase 2 of the preliminaries. If the 'Bicho' manages to overcome Barcelona from Ecuador and then advances in Phase 3, it will reach the group stage and join Pot 4, thus completing the list of Argentine teams in the 2026 Copa Libertadores.
