The Ministry of National Security has applied a 24-month "Administrative Restriction on Attendance" to Juan Pablo Barengo for physically assaulting a referee during a football match in the youth leagues, held in Santa Fe province.
According to Resolution 1394/2025, published today in the Official Gazette, the measure applies to all sporting events nationwide and was issued under the "Safe Stands" program administered by the Ministry.
According to the reasoning of the norm, which was accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the incident occurred at the end of a match between Centro Recreativo y Deportivo de Elisa and Club Independiente de La Pelada. The complainant, José Leonardo Medina, was assaulted with "kicks and punches" in the locker room area.
The complaint was filed with the provincial police on November 4 and later referred to the San Cristóbal Prosecutor's Office, where the incident was classified as "minor intentional injuries at a sporting event".
The Santa Fe Provincial Police's Division of Sporting Events also provided video footage of the incident.
The Security Coordination for Mass Events of the Santa Fe Ministry of Security requested the application of the restrictive measure, which was implemented in accordance with Decree 246/2017, which regulates the Sports Law 20.655.
The resolution was signed by the Minister of National Security, Alejandra Susana Monteoliva, and is effective from its publication in the Official Gazette.
