The Argentine women's junior national hockey team, also known as 'Las Leoncitas', will face China this Wednesday in a bid to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Junior World Cup, being held in Chile. The match, which will be broadcast live by the Noticias Argentinas news agency, is scheduled for 18:00 (Argentina time). Las Leoncitas, coached by Juan Martín López, advanced to this stage after their victory over Germany in the quarter-finals, where they managed to tip the scales in their favor thanks to goals from Juana Castellaro and Victoria Falasco to win 2-1. Previously, in the group stage, they crushed Zimbabwe 13-0 and Wales 8-0, and drew 1-1 with Belgium. China, for its part, had a very good performance in the group stage, where they thrashed Austria 11-0 and South Africa 4-0, while drawing 2-2 with England.
Las Leoncitas are seeking their third title at a Junior World Cup, after winning in 1993 and 2016. However, the most winning team is the Netherlands, which topped the podium in 1997, 2009, 2013, 2021 and 2023.
