In the 43rd minute, an excellent corner kick led to a Foden goal, making it 3-0, though Smith-Rowe headed one back in first-half stoppage time. City started the second half with a goal from Foden in the 2nd minute, and Berge turned a Doku shot into his own net for 5-1. Fulham fought back with goals from Iwobi and Chukwueze, but it was not enough.
