The Copa Libertadores de América will feature several Argentine teams in its 2024 edition. Estudiantes de La Plata will share Group A with Botafogo from Brazil, Universidad de Chile, and Carabobo. Racing, the current champion of the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa, will be part of Group E along with Colo Colo, Fortaleza, and Atlético Bucaramanga.
On the other hand, Talleres de Córdoba will face São Paulo from Brazil, Libertad from Paraguay, and Alianza Lima in Group D. Vélez Sarsfield, the last champion of Argentine football, will play against Peñarol, Olimpia, and San Antonio in Zone H. Meanwhile, Central Córdoba from Santiago del Estero will make its debut in the tournament against Flamengo from Brazil, Deportivo Táchira, and Liga de Quito in Group C.
The draw ceremony took place at the Conmebol headquarters in Luque, Paraguay, with the participation of teams from various South American countries. Brazil will be the country with the most representation in the tournament, with seven participating teams, reflecting its dominance in continental football in recent years.
River Plate, one of the Argentine teams present, was placed in Group B and will face Independiente del Valle and Barcelona from Ecuador, as well as Universitario from Peru. In total, six Argentine teams will seek glory in the Copa Libertadores.
