River Plate's President Discusses Upcoming Copa Libertadores

The president of River, Jorge Brito, expressed his optimism and enthusiasm following the draw for the group stage of the 2025 Copa Libertadores. Brito emphasized that his team is at a similar level to Atlético Mineiro and Botafogo, which gives him confidence to face the international competition.

Regarding the group in which River Plate has been placed, Jorge Brito mentioned that, despite trying to avoid matches at high altitude and long travels, this time they must face both situations. He considers that, although exhausting, it is fair since the matches are home and away, so his players must be prepared to face demanding opponents and make numerous trips during the months of April and May.

On the other hand, Brito announced that he will not participate in the upcoming club elections, following the decision to annul re-election through an assembly, considering that this measure is beneficial for all. He assured that he will stay away from the executive management, supporting the team from a more distant position as a regular fan.

Regarding the absence of Boca Juniors in the continental tournament, the president of River chose not to engage in provocations and expressed his respect for the rival club, avoiding generating conflicts. However, he made it clear that they will always seek victory in the classic.

Jorge Brito highlighted the importance that River Plate attaches to the Copa Libertadores, considering it the most relevant competition of the year. He emphasized satisfaction with the current squad of the club, a result of the signings made at the beginning of the season. The Argentine team will share Group B with Independiente del Valle, Barcelona from Ecuador, and Universitario from Peru, having to face challenges at high altitude and numerous travels in their journey through the continental tournament.
