The manager of the Argentina national team, Lionel Scaloni, announced the list of players for the matches against Uruguay and Brazil in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Scaloni selected 26 footballers and excluded the legendary Lionel Messi due to an injury sustained in the match of his team "Inter Miami" against "Atlanta United". This match took place today, on Monday, and ended with a 2:1 victory for Miami.

Argentina leads the qualifiers in the South American tournament, having 25 points after 12 matches. Following them are Uruguay (20 points), Ecuador (19 points), Colombia (19 points), and Brazil (18 points).

Goalkeepers: Emiliano Martinez, Geronimo Rulli, Walter Benitez. Defenders: Nahuel Molina, Juan Foyth, Cristian Romero, German Pezzella, Leonardo Balerdi, Nicolas Otamendi, Facundo Medina, Nicolas Tagliafico. Midfielders: Leandro Paredes, Enzo Fernandez, Rodrigo de Paul, Alexis Mac Allister, Esquel Palacios, Maximiliano Pereira, Julian Aude, Benjamín Daminguez, Thiago Almada, Nicolas González. The Argentina national team will play away against Uruguay on March 22 and then face Brazil at the "Monumental" stadium on March 26.
