
On Sunday, Independiente and Racing drew 1-1 at the Libertadores de América – Ricardo Enrique Bochini, in a match of the tenth round of the Torneo Apertura of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol. The goal for Racing was scored by the Uruguayan Gastón Martirena in the 21st minute of the first half, while Álvaro Angulo equalized for Independiente in the 34th minute of the second half.
The result leaves Racing in first position in Zone B with 21 points, tied with Rosario Central. The team remains unbeaten at home and is preparing to face Unión de Santa Fe next Thursday at 21:00. In a closely contested first half, Racing managed to open the scoring thanks to Martirena, who took advantage of a pass from Maximiliano Salas to beat Rodrigo Rey, Independiente's goalkeeper.
In the second half, Independiente made substitutions to seek the equalizer, including Luciano Cabral and Santiago Hidalgo into the team. With a standout play, Cabral assisted Angulo, who scored with a header to level the match. Despite the opportunities, neither team was able to score the winning goal in the final minutes.
In the next round, Independiente will face Godoy Cruz at their stadium. Meanwhile, Racing, coached by Gustavo Costas, is in the tenth position in Zone A with 10 points and has gone five matches without a win in the league.
