River Signs Colombian Midfielder Kevin Castaño

River Plate has closed the signing of Colombian midfielder Kevin Castaño and included a huge release clause in his contract to protect his services. Castaño, 24 years old and coming from Krasnodar in Russia, joins the team with an initial clause of 30 million dollars, which will increase to 35 during the last ten days of the transfer window.

The decision to secure the player with a high release clause was made after Claudio Echeverri's departure to Manchester City in England, which paid the stipulated amount in his contract. To protect Castaño from possible offers from other teams, River Plate preferred to secure their rights with this clause.

Previously, the club had already taken similar measures by placing a 45 million dollar clause on the player Franco Mastantuono. This figure is the highest in Argentine football and reflects the team's policy to protect its assets against possible transfers.

After several weeks of negotiations, River Plate finally completed the acquisition of Kevin Castaño for a value of 13.8 million dollars, making him the second most expensive purchase in the club's history, after striker Lucas Pratto, for whom they paid 14 million.

Castaño is expected to make his debut with River Plate this Saturday against Deportivo Riestra as a visitor at 16:00 hours, as long as coach Marcelo Gallardo deems it appropriate.
