Frustrated Transfer Leaves Club in Financial Turmoil

The footballer Foster Gillett had everything agreed to join a European team, but the agreed capital was never deposited in the account of the Vélez Sarsfield club, causing the negotiation to collapse. Without receiving the money, the player could not join the Italian team for training, leaving the Argentine club with 100% of the player's rights. The lack of payment led the club to claim, stating "serious damages to the club's assets."

Another similar case was that of Valentín Gómez, when the American businessman was supposed to pay 10 million dollars to send the player to Udinese in Italy, but the money was also not deposited. Given this situation, both the player and the club decided to terminate the agreement. The investment group attempted a maneuver that was unsuccessful, leading River Plate to file a criminal complaint against Foster Gillett and the associated businessman.

The sports institution in the Federal Capital considered that the action caused serious damage to its assets, especially after the failed sale of Rodrigo Villagra to CSKA Moscow for 5 million dollars. Despite completing the sale, River Plate evaluated the possibility of having obtained a higher amount for the player.
