The Defensa y Justicia team managed to win 1-0 against Estudiantes in a match corresponding to the ninth round of the 2025 Apertura Tournament, held at the Norberto Tomaghello stadium. The only goal of the match came with just four minutes left, when Gastón Togni headed in a precise cross from Alexis Soto and sent the ball to the back of the net.
During the course of the match, both teams created dangerous chances. Tiago Palacios and Guido Carrillo from the home team had a notable combination that culminated in a powerful shot from Palacios narrowly deflected. For their part, Estudiantes also sought to open the scoring with good opportunities, including a shot from Eric Meza that went just wide of the goal defended by Defensa y Justicia.
In the second half, Santiago Ascacibar of Estudiantes attempted to set up Santiago Arzamendia with a through ball, but his shot failed to beat the resistance of the opposing goalkeeper, Enrique Bologna. Despite several goal-scoring opportunities, the score remained tight until the last minutes, when Togni scored the goal that would give Defensa y Justicia the victory.
With this result, Defensa y Justicia reached 17 points, consolidating itself in sixth place in zone A and occupying the eighth position in the overall table. Estudiantes, on the other hand, remained in fourth place in the zone with 18 points, holding the fifth position in the annual ranking.
