
The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced the pots for the draw of the group stage of the 2025 Copa Libertadores, where six Argentine teams will participate. The draw will take place on Monday, March 17, at the Conmebol headquarters in Luque, Paraguay.
Among the Argentine teams that will be part of the 2025 Copa Libertadores are River Plate and Talleres, which qualified for their performance in the annual table, Racing Club, which secured its place by winning the 2024 Copa Sudamericana, and Estudiantes de La Plata, Vélez Sarsfield, and Central Córdoba from Santiago del Estero, qualified for their achievements in the Copa de la Liga, the Professional Football League, and the Argentine Cup, respectively.
These six Argentine teams will seek to break the winning streak of the Brazilian teams, who have been crowned champions in the last six editions of the Copa Libertadores: Flamengo in 2019 and 2022, Palmeiras in 2020 and 2021, Fluminense in 2023, and Botafogo in 2024.
In Pot 1 will be River Plate and Racing Club, in Pot 2 will be Estudiantes de La Plata, and in Pot 3 will be Vélez Sarsfield and Talleres. Finally, the only Argentine representative in Pot 4 will be Central Córdoba, which will compete for the first time in the most important club tournament in America.
