Argentine Tennis Players Debut at Indian Wells

Three Argentine tennis players, Sebastián Báez, Tomás Etcheverry, and Mariano Navone, will participate in the Indian Wells tournament, which is the first Masters 1000 of the season.

The first to compete will be Etcheverry, who will face Czech Jakub Mensik in a challenging match. The match is scheduled for no earlier than 5:10 PM. Next, on the same court, Báez will play, who has recently achieved good results in the South American tour. This time, he will face Italian Matteo Gigante. Currently, Báez is ranked 34th in the world ranking and will have the opportunity to add victories on fast courts, a surface that has been difficult for him in the past.

Finally, past midnight, it will be Navone’s turn, who will compete against American Learner Tien, one of the young tennis prospects.

The seeded players in the tournament, including Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo, will begin their performances in the second round between Friday and Saturday. Among the favorites to win the title are Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic, the latter along with Roger Federer holding the record for the most titles in Indian Wells with five wins each.

A notable absence in the tournament will be Jannik Sinner, the world number 1, who was suspended for three months following a positive result in a doping test.
