David Trezeguet: An Icon of Argentine Football

The official account of A.S. Monaco praised David Trezeguet, the former French player who was part of the professional team of River Plate. The forward, of Argentine descent, was highlighted by the European club as 'the best foreign player to have played in Argentine football.'

Trezeguet separated from his wife at a crucial moment when he decided to return to South America to support River Plate during a difficult time. In 2012, River Plate managed to rise to the first division of Argentine football after defeating Almirante Brown 2-0, with both goals scored by Trezeguet.

The following year, the forward left River Plate and joined Newell's Old Boys of Rosario. This team featured international stars such as Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry. Despite his successful career in Europe, Trezeguet decided to return to Argentina, the country where he began his professional career at Platense in 1994.

Despite his affection for Platense, Trezeguet returned to Argentina to help River Plate in their comeback to the first division after a relegation. However, the club was relegated again to a high-level second division after losing a promotion match against Belgrano of Córdoba.

'King David' stood out as a center forward in Ligue 1 with A.S. Monaco and in Serie A during his time with Juventus. He also won the World Cup with the French national team in 1998.
