Argentinian motorsport could have a new representation in Formula 2. The unexpected departure of Christian Mansell from Rodin Motorsport has opened a possibility for Nicolás Varrone, a driver who has already had contact with the category and is currently part of Cadillac's program, a team that will enter Formula 1 in 2026.
Christian Mansell confirmed his exit for personal reasons through his social media: 'Hello everyone, I just wanted to inform you that for personal reasons I have decided to step away from racing for a while. I will keep you updated on future plans.'
In light of this situation, Nicolás Varrone's name has emerged as an alternative on social media to fill the vacancy at Rodin Motorsport. The Argentine, who has already conducted tests in Formula 2 with the AIX team, has the talent and preparation to take on the challenge, although his arrival would not be an easy task.
Varrone is committed to competing in the 12 Hours of Sebring on the same weekend as the Australian Grand Prix, which would make it very difficult for him to be released from his current contract. Furthermore, to race in Formula 2, he would need approval from General Motors, adding another problem to what could be his entry into the world championship of second-tier single-seater racing.
Mansell's departure has generated excitement among Argentinian fans, who dream of seeing Varrone in the prelude to Formula 1. For now, the chances of the 24-year-old driver taking the seat at Rodin Motorsport are almost nil, but the coming hours will be key in determining whether his future could change direction.
