San Lorenzo Hosts River in Exciting Liga Profesional Clash

The surprising San Lorenzo of Miguel Ángel Russo, who had an ideal start in the Apertura Tournament of the Professional Football League, will host River in a match corresponding to the third round. The match will take place this Sunday starting at 5 PM at the Pedro Bidegain Stadium, better known as the 'Nuevo Gasómetro.' The referee will be Darío Herrera and the match will be broadcast on TNT Sports.

San Lorenzo had a great tournament start, winning 1-0 against Talleres de Córdoba in the first round, while in their second appearance they triumphed 2-0 away against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. This season start allows Russo's team to hope for a good victory against River, a team they haven't beaten since 2021 (2-1 in the Copa de la Liga Profesional).

For this crucial match, Russo is expected to go with the same 11 players who defeated Gimnasia in 'El Bosque.' River, on the other hand, debuted in the tournament with a draw against Platense, while in their last appearance they won 1-0 against Instituto de Córdoba at the end. However, the 'Millonario' team was heavily criticized for their low performance, even prompting self-criticism from their head coach, Marcelo Gallardo.

For the derby against San Lorenzo, 'El Muñeco' was planning to make two changes compared to the team that took the field against Instituto: Paraguayan Matías Rojas would replace the injured Maximiliano Meza, while Sebastián Driussi would take Facundo Colidio's place in the attack. The possible lineups for the match would be:

San Lorenzo: Orlando Gill; Elías Báez, Daniel Herrera, Jhohan Romaña, Ezequiel Herrera; Ezequiel Cerutti, Nicolás Tripichio, Elián Irala, Malcom Braida; Matías Reali; Alexis Cuello. Coach: Miguel Ángel Russo.

River: Franco Armani; Marcos Acuña, Lucas Martínez Quarta, Germán Pezzella, Gonzalo Montiel; Enzo Pérez, Giuliano Galoppo, Matías Rojas, Manuel Lanzini; Sebastián Driussi and Miguel Borja. Coach: Marcelo Gallardo.
