The Professional League has expressed outrage over the state of the playing fields in the early rounds of the 2025 Apertura Tournament and has warned that, if necessary, they will change stadiums in upcoming matches. So far, only 21 matches have been played, but the conditions of the grounds have sparked controversy in the local tournament.
A recent example occurred during the match between Vélez and Platense at the José Amalfitani Stadium, where Platense won 1-0. However, the poor conditions of the field led to complaints from the players. In a previous match, River Plate also played against Platense and, after a 1-1 draw, coach Marcelo Gallardo criticized the state of the field.
The Professional Football League issued a statement reminding first division clubs of their obligation to keep the fields in optimal conditions. It was noted that several stadiums presented dangerous states, endangering the integrity of players and referees.
Additionally, the League reminded that it has the authority to require a change of stadium if conditions do not improve: "Beyond the existing measures, the LPF can determine a change of stadium in cases where the fields are not in good condition." It was emphasized that the priority is the health of the players and the quality of the football spectacle.
Finally, the Professional League expressed its willingness to find solutions to this problem affecting Argentine teams. Although only two rounds of the 2025 Apertura Tournament have been played, the poor condition of the fields has generated concern among clubs and sparked debates on social media and within the teams themselves.
