Argentina Faces Cape Verde in Handball World Cup

The Argentine handball team, also known as “Los Gladiadores,” is preparing for their next challenge in the World Cup. After a disappointing performance against Slovenia in the Main Round of the tournament, where they suffered a defeat by 34-23, the Argentine team will aim to redeem themselves against Cape Verde. This match will take place at the Arena Zagreb in Croatia, with a capacity of around 15,000 spectators, on Friday at 11:30 AM.

After being left with no mathematical options to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time in their history, “Los Gladiadores” need a victory to improve their position in the championship. In the first round, Argentina had ups and downs, suffering defeats against Egypt and Croatia and only managing to defeat Bahrain by a narrow margin.

Although the eleventh place obtained in the 2021 World Cup was a historic achievement for the Argentine team, the current edition is presenting challenges. It is anticipated that facing Cape Verde, who has had weaker performance in the competition, could be an opportunity to gain important points in Group IV of the Main Round.

In this group, Iceland leads the table with six points, while Croatia, Egypt, and Slovenia compete for second place, all with four points. “Los Gladiadores,” under the technical direction of Rodolfo Jung, will face this challenge with a formation led by key players such as Leonel Maciel, Martín Jung, Ramiro Martínez, Facundo Cangiani, Guillermo Fischer, Lucas Aizen, and Juan Saco. The Argentine team seeks to improve their performance in the tournament and achieve a positive result in the match against Cape Verde.
