The Professional Football League of Argentina begins this week with the first date of the Apertura Tournament. Teams like Vélez, Tigre, and Boca will face off in the first matches of the tournament, which will feature groups and playoffs.

The Professional Football League starts its new season this week with Matchday 1 of the Apertura Tournament. Following the preseason and the international summer friendlies, the tournament returns with a group and playoff format. The current champion, Vélez, will be responsible for inaugurating the event on Thursday, January 23.

The Apertura Tournament is divided into two zones of 15 teams each, where the top 8 from each group will advance to the round of 16. The first matchday of the tournament brings several interesting matchups, starting with Tigre against Vélez and Godoy Cruz against Rosario Central on Thursday, the 23rd. On Friday the 24th, Barracas Central will face Racing, and Independiente will play against Sarmiento, among other scheduled matches.

On Saturday, January 25, San Lorenzo will clash with Talleres, while Estudiantes will measure up against Unión and Platense will play against River. On Sunday, January 26, the day will close with Boca facing Argentinos Juniors and Central Córdoba against Aldosivi.
