New Regulations for Travel Authorization with Minors

To travel with a minor in Argentina, it is mandatory to obtain the corresponding authorization. The National Directorate of Migrations, under the Deputy Chief of the Cabinet of the Interior, informs that there are different time periods to request these authorizations. They can be requested for a single trip, for a defined period, or until the minor reaches the age of majority. Additionally, the revocation of the authorization can also be done partially or totally.

The authorization procedure can be carried out without an appointment at more than 100 Migration offices throughout the country, including delegations, immigration offices, and border crossings. There are three types of authorization requests depending on urgency: Normal, Express, or Instant. The Normal procedure takes 10 business days, while the Express is obtained in just 48 hours. In the case of traveling with both parents, only documentation proving the relationship is required.

At the time of processing the application, documentation for the minor, the authorizers, and proof of the relationship must be presented at the Central Migration Office or any of the delegations. In the case of requesting the Instant procedure, which is processed in a maximum of 2 hours, it can be done at various points such as Ezeiza Airport, Aeroparque, Buquebus, the Central Office, and all border crossings and delegations. This authorization is crucial when the minor travels with only one parent or guardian, or if they are accompanied by third parties.
