The meeting scheduled for today between the Government, representatives of the CGT, and business leaders to discuss aspects of the labor reform contained in the Bases Law has been suspended at the request of the unionists. The co-chair of the CGT, Héctor Daer, expressed his concern about the possibility that employers might make arbitrary interpretations due to the ambiguous wording related to the penalization of union blockades.
The Executive had summoned the parties to a meeting at the Ministry of Labor to address the regulation of this penalization, a point that generated controversy within the CGT. However, the General Confederation of Labor decided to postpone the meeting without setting a new date due to the absence of Marta Pujadas, a lawyer from UOCRA, who is in Geneva participating in an international meeting.
The technical discussion will seek to clarify doubts regarding the wording of the article related to the penalization of blockades in companies, which, according to the CGT, is subject to harmful interpretations that could lead to unjustified dismissals. The article in question modifies the dismissal procedure with cause in the Labor Contract Law and, according to the labor confederation, requires regulation to correct this ambiguity.
