In the Argentine city of Córdoba, the identity of one of twelve people whose remains were found at the site of the former clandestine detention center 'La Perla' has been confirmed. The person is electrician Mario Alberto Nivoli, who was abducted in 1977. His daughter, María Soledad Nivoli, who was only four months old when her father disappeared, stated that now that his identity is confirmed, she feels a sense of relief but is also now an orphan. 'I am no longer the daughter of a disappeared person. My father is no longer a disappeared person. A peace I had never felt,' she said. She also addressed those who kidnapped and killed her father, urging them to stop committing that crime. 'La Perla,' one of the largest centers in the country, was under the command of military officer Luciano Benjamín Menéndez and began operating in 1976. It is estimated that some 2,500 people were held there clandestinely, the majority of whom were disappeared. Forensic studies continue to identify the other remains.
